NIDCOM To Host 7th Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit, A Key Platform For Diaspora Investment – Dabiri-Erewa.

Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has reaffirmed the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) as a critical platform for harnessing the potential of the Nigerian diaspora to drive the country’s economic growth. She made the statement during a press conference in Abuja ahead of the 7th edition of the NDIS, set to take place later this year.

Since its inception in 2018, the NDIS has empowered members of the diaspora to invest their resources, expertise, and networks into fostering economic opportunities in Nigeria. According to Dabiri-Erewa, the summit serves as a bridge between diaspora investors and local entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and start-ups across various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

“The NDIS has been instrumental in creating jobs, promoting innovation, and diversifying Nigeria’s economic base,” she stated. Over the past six years, the summit has evolved into a platform for meaningful interactions between diaspora investors, business partners, sponsors, and government officials, facilitating numerous investment opportunities.

The 7th edition of the NDIS promises to be exceptional, with insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and actionable strategies designed to harness the potential of the Nigerian diaspora. Dabiri-Erewa also announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will deliver a goodwill message at the event, while Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Mr Niyi Olajide will serve as Special Guests of Honour.

The NiDCOM Chairman highlighted several success stories of start-ups that have attracted more than ₦500 million in investments over the years. She extended her gratitude to key supporters, including the Nigerian National Assembly, the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA), the Nigeria Investment Promotion Council (NIPC), and other public and private entities, for their continuous support in ensuring the success of the summit.

Dr Badewa Adejugbe-Williams, the Summit Coordinator, emphasised the importance of the NDIS as a forum that unites Nigerians in improving the country’s economic landscape. “We are all part of the solution,” she stated, commending Dabiri-Erewa’s efforts in reshaping Nigeria’s narrative.

The 2024 NDIS will focus on key sectors pivotal to Nigeria’s growth, including finance, ICT, fintech, creative industries, sports, entertainment, agribusiness, healthcare, education, real estate, infrastructure, manufacturing, and mining. Prospective business participants will also benefit from free tutoring and preparation for the pitching sessions.
