Nigeria Police Set Nationwide Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement For October 2, 2025

The Nigeria Police Force has announced that it will commence nationwide enforcement of tinted glass permits starting October 2, 2025.

The move follows an extension of the initial deadline, giving motorists more time to comply and obtain the necessary permits.

Authorities have emphasized that all applications must be submitted through the official portal, possap.gov.ng, which remains the only authorized platform for processing tinted glass permits. Applicants are required to provide their National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), or Tax Identification Number (TIN) as part of the application process.

The permit system includes biometric verification, background checks, and vehicle inspections to ensure full compliance with regulations. Each issued permit will feature a QR code, unique serial number, and digital hologram to prevent forgery and unauthorized duplication.

Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, stressed that the extension period was intended to guarantee thorough processing and maintain the integrity of the permit system. He also warned the public to avoid paying unauthorized agents offering permit services and encouraged reporting any fraudulent activities to the authorities.

Motorists are strongly advised to complete their applications promptly to avoid penalties once enforcement begins. The police reiterate that compliance with the new tinted glass permit regulations is mandatory and critical for road safety and security across Nigeria.
