Nigeria’s oil production rose to an average of 1.63 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil and condensates in August 2025, marking an improvement from 1.58 million bpd recorded in the same period last year.

This was contained in the Crude Oil and Condensate Production Report for August 2025, released on Saturday by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and signed by its Head of Media and Strategic Communications, Eniola Akinkuotu.

According to the report, Nigeria’s crude oil output in August accounted for 96 per cent of its Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota of 1.5 million bpd, reflecting the country’s ability to meet its production commitments.

Out of the total output, crude oil production stood at 1.43 million bpd, representing a 5.47 per cent growth compared to 1.36 million bpd in August 2024. However, condensate production for the month was 197,229 bpd, slightly lower than the 220,435 bpd recorded in August 2024.

On a month-on-month basis, overall crude and condensate production dropped by 4.7 per cent from 1.71 million bpd in July. Crude oil output alone fell by 4.8 per cent from 1.5 million bpd in July, a decline linked to a day-long unscheduled maintenance at one of the country’s oil facilities.

The report noted that in August, combined production peaked at 1.85 million bpd and dropped to as low as 1.59 million bpd.

By terminal output, Forcados led the charts with 8.99 million barrels, comprising 8.08 million barrels of crude and 915,200 barrels of condensates. Bonny Terminal followed with 6.26 million barrels (5.8 million barrels of crude and 418,270 barrels of condensates).

Qua Iboe Terminal posted 4.99 million barrels, made up of 4.94 million barrels of crude and 50,500 barrels of condensates, while Escravos contributed 4.18 million barrels, including 4.08 million barrels of crude and 107,000 barrels of condensates.
