Nigerian Air Force Neutralises Scores Of Terrorists In Night Operation In Zamfara And Kebbi.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a significant blow to terrorist networks in Zamfara and Kebbi States, neutralising scores of fighters in a daring night raid as part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA. The operation, known as ‘Operation FARAUTAR MUJIYA’, was launched on Friday to support the Armed Forces’ renewed push to end criminal activities in Nigeria’s Northwest.
The air campaign, detailed in a statement by NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, targeted several notorious bandit strongholds with precision strikes. Advanced surveillance led to pinpointed aerial assaults on camps including Sangeko, near the Kebbi border, and the fortified stronghold of infamous bandit leader Ado Aleiro in Zamfara’s Tsafe Local Government Area.
The initial wave of strikes on 8 November saw the destruction of a key arms depot and the neutralisation of numerous fighters aligned with Ado Aleiro. “The precision bombardment delivered a substantial blow to the terrorists, significantly weakening their operational capabilities,” Akinboyewa explained, adding that the operation had a profound impact on criminal networks.
The strikes also provided an unexpected lifeline for several kidnapped individuals held captive by the terrorists, who managed to escape amidst the chaos and made their way to safety in Kebbi State. Some of these former captives have shared accounts of their courageous escape.
“These operations reflect the NAF’s commitment to agility and resilience, underlining the Armed Forces’ dedication to securing peace across Nigeria,” said Akinboyewa. The night operation has sent shockwaves through the bandit networks, inspiring renewed hope among residents affected by banditry in the region.
