Nigerian Forces Neutralize Notorious Boko Haram Commander In Borno State.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, the Multinational Joint Task Force, and the Civilian Joint Task Force have successfully eliminated a high-profile Boko Haram commander, Amir Abu Fatima, along with his key deputies, in a daring operation in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The targeted assault, carried out on Friday morning at Alayaru village near Alagarno, marks a significant breakthrough in Nigeria’s efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in the northeast. Acting on credible intelligence, Special Forces led the coordinated attack, leveraging land, maritime, and aerial assets to strike the insurgent hideout.

During the intense gunfire exchange, troops overpowered the terrorists with superior firepower, prompting many to flee. In addition to Abu Fatima, two other high-ranking insurgents were confirmed killed: Abu Maryam and Abu Modu, a known expert in improvised explosive devices.

Following the operation, troops seized a substantial cache of weapons and explosive materials, including

– AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines

– Hand grenades

– Assorted ammunition

– Primed IEDs concealed in 4-litre kegs

– Radio sets

– Mobile phones

– Batteries

– Pressure plates

– Detonating cords

– Sapper cable

– Motorcycles and spare parts.

Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for Operation HADIN KAI, highlighted the operation’s success as a testament to the evolving strategy and heightened readiness of Nigerian forces and their regional partners. “This joint intelligence-led operation demonstrates the growing effectiveness of our coordinated approach across land, sea, and air,” he said.

The military has urged the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting security efforts with timely and credible information. Captain Kovangiya reaffirmed the military’s commitment to stabilizing the region and uprooting terrorist threats, noting that similar operations are ongoing across the North East theatre.

This development comes as Nigeria continues to face security challenges in the region. However, with the military’s sustained efforts, there is hope for improved stability and peace in the northeast.
