All 109 senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have collectively donated their one-month salaries, totaling N109 million, to the victims affected by the recent drone mishap in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, conveyed this generous gesture during a visit to the Kaduna Government House, where he led a high-profile delegation of the Senate. The senators were warmly received by Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani.

In a statement released by Senator Barau’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, it was confirmed that the donated funds would be transferred to the state governor for distribution to the affected victims.

Senator Barau expressed the Senate’s deep concern for the victims and emphasized the senators’ commitment to contributing meaningfully to the relief efforts in Kaduna. The Deputy President of the Senate highlighted the importance of swift and collective action in addressing the needs of the affected community.

Meanwhile, Governor Uba Sani extended his gratitude to the senators for their substantial donation, acknowledging the support and solidarity exhibited by the entire Senate during this challenging time. The funds will play a crucial role in providing assistance and relief to those impacted by the drone misfire in Kaduna.

This philanthropic act reflects the senators’ dedication to the welfare of Nigerian citizens, particularly in times of crisis, and reiterated  the role of leadership in fostering unity and support within the nation.

Northern Lawyers Forum to Sue Federal Government

The Concerned Northern Lawyers Forum, a group established by legal professionals, has declared its intention to initiate legal proceedings against the Federal Government.

The legal action aims to secure appropriate compensation for the victims affected by the military airstrikes in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State, where over 120 villagers lost their lives during the celebration of Maulud last Sunday night.

Barrister Nafi’u Abubakar, representing the lawyers’ forum, asserted that justice must be sought for the families enduring irreparable loss due to the tragic incident.

Speaking to reporters in Kaduna on Saturday, Barrister Nafi’u emphasized the forum’s commitment to ensuring that those affected receive due compensation.

He called upon the Federal Government to promptly and decisively address the situation by conducting a thorough and independent investigation into the incident. Barrister Nafi’u stressed the need for accountability, urging that those responsible for the unfortunate event be held answerable, and measures be implemented to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

In his statement, Barrister Nafi’u underscored the importance of the Nigerian Army reassessing its rules of engagement and training procedures to minimize the loss of innocent lives during military operations.

He urged the military to exercise extreme caution, emphasizing the necessity for preventing collateral damage and civilian casualties in the course of defending the nation.

Expressing condolences, the forum, comprising over 600 members, extended heartfelt sympathies to the families affected by the tragic incident. Barrister Nafi’u affirmed the forum’s solidarity with the grieving families and pledged unwavering support to ensure that justice prevails.
