Two civil society organizations, Rising-Up for a United Nigeria (RUN) and Citizens Awareness Against Corruption and Social Vices Initiative (CAACASVI), have urged Nigerians to rally behind the Dangote Refinery, describing it as a transformative project with far-reaching benefits for the country’s energy sector and economy.

The groups stressed that the refinery is crucial for Nigeria’s energy independence, as it has the capacity to drastically reduce reliance on imported refined petroleum products, stabilize domestic fuel supply, and save significant foreign exchange for the nation.

Highlighting the refinery’s potential to drive economic growth, the organizations called on citizens, stakeholders, and policymakers to actively support the project to ensure it delivers maximum benefits. They emphasized that collective participation is essential to harness the refinery’s capacity for generating employment opportunities, boosting industrial development, and improving local content across Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

RUN and CAACASVI further pointed out that the success of the Dangote Refinery could position Nigeria as a stronger player in the global energy market, attract foreign investments, and promote technological advancement in the oil and gas industry. They encouraged Nigerians to engage with initiatives linked to the refinery, noting that such involvement would help communities benefit from the project while strengthening the national economy.

The groups concluded by urging the public to view the refinery not only as a business enterprise but also as a national asset capable of transforming the country’s energy landscape, creating jobs, and fostering sustainable economic growth. They reiterated that with nationwide support, the Dangote Refinery could achieve its full potential, benefiting present and future generations of Nigerians.
