It was an action-packed first day of matchday 27 in the Nigeria Premier Football League, which saw two thrilling matches unfold on Saturday.
The highlight of the day was the Savannah derby between Doma United and Gombe United at the Pantami Stadium, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Gombe United took an early lead through David Nnaji in the 12th minute, but Usman Musa equalized for Doma United in the 63rd minute.
In another match, Kano Pillars secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Sporting Lagos, with Mustapha Umar scoring the decisive goal in the 48th minute.
Elsewhere, Akwa United faced Plateau United, where Jerome Hectou opened the scoring for Akwa United in the 10th minute. Sunday Anthony equalized for Plateau United in the 75th minute, but Sulaiman Sanni’s penalty in the 90th minute sealed a 2-1 win for Akwa United.
Meanwhile in Katsina, Abia Warriors took the lead through Daniel Wotlai, but goals from Andrew Idoko and Idris Falolu secured a 2-1 victory for Katsina United.
In Ilorin, Kwara United emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Enyimba International, thanks to a brace from Emmanuel Ogbole.
Bayelsa United held league leaders Lobi Stars to a 1-1 draw, while Rangers claimed a 2-1 away win against Heartland FC in Aba. Remo Stars also secured a 2-0 victory over Bendel Insurance in Ikenne.
