NSCDC Thwarts Major Railway Vandalism In Bauchi, Seizes Stolen Sleepers.

Dr Kayode Opeifa, Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), confirmed the interception in a statement issued on Tuesday by Mr Yakub Mahmood, Deputy Director of Public Relations at the NRC. Three suspects were apprehended during the operation, and both the vehicle and the stolen sleepers are now in NSCDC custody for further investigation.
“This arrest underscores our zero-tolerance policy toward railway vandalism. We will not relent in pursuing individuals or criminal networks that threaten the safety and sustainability of Nigeria’s rail system,” Dr Opeifa declared, as reported by TheStar. He further called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around railway infrastructure to aid in curbing such crimes.
