NUPENG and Dangote Refinery have reached an agreement, leading to the immediate suspension of a nationwide strike.
The agreement allows employees to unionize in accordance with existing laws, with the process commencing immediately and expected to be completed within two weeks.

Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals agreed to allow employees who wish to unionize to do so, recognizing workers’ right to join labor unions. The agreement also stipulates that no worker or employee of Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals will be victimized due to the strike notice. Parties will report back to the Honourable Minister of Labour one week after the conclusion of the engagement.
NUPENG reacted to the agreement, stating, “Victory at last! Workers united can never be defeated!” The agreement was reached after a conciliation meeting convened by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment. The process of unionization will commence immediately and be completed within two weeks, from September 9 to September 22, 2025. The employer also agreed not to establish any other union.
