Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has appealed to leaders and elders of the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo communities to promote peace and unity in Warri, stressing that a united society is key to sustainable development.
Speaking at the funeral service of the late Mrs. Grace Agbolayah at the African Church, Central Missionary Diocese in Warri, Governor Oborevwori cautioned against the misuse of social media, warning that it can be used to incite conflicts and spread false information.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of all Deltans, stating that his administration would continue to serve the interests of the people impartially. Reflecting on past experiences, he recounted how his father’s house in Igoruwe was spared during a past crisis, a lesson he described as shaping his approach to leadership.
Governor Oborevwori expressed his personal connection to Warri, saying, “Warri dey sweet me for body; this is my home,” and urged critics, especially those outside Delta State, to avoid spreading divisive messages. He also called on parents and guardians to guide their children on responsible social media use.
Paying tribute to the late Mrs. Agbolayah, the Governor described her as a shining example of dedication and service to the community. The funeral service was attended by various dignitaries and community members.
