Ogoniland Re Entry Marks New Era Of Reconciliation

The Ogoni re entry marks a historic turning point for Nigeria, reflecting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, this development is not just about oil production but a bold step towards justice, healing, and national prosperity.

The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, convened a committee that brought diverse stakeholders together, creating a platform for dialogue and consensus. This collaborative effort has paved the way for NNPC Ltd to re enter Ogoniland and work towards rebuilding trust and promoting sustainable progress.

NNPC Ltd is determined to transform Ogoniland from a symbol of conflict into a beacon of reconciliation, renewal, and sustainable progress. The company will prioritize community engagements, invest in infrastructure, and empower local enterprise to rebuild trust and demonstrate accountability.

President Tinubu acknowledged the decades of pain endured by the Ogoni people and reaffirmed his administration’s recognition of their sacrifices. “We are not, as a government, taking lightly the years of pain endured in Ogoniland. We recognise that, otherwise we would not be here today…We declare with conviction that hope is here and is back with us,” he said.

The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, described the development as a reaffirmation of the company’s commitment to justice, healing, and inclusive growth. “The re entry into Ogoniland is not just about oil and gas. It is about justice, healing, and charting a new future for our nation,” Ojulari stated.

NNPC Ltd has begun initiatives in road construction, infrastructure upgrades, and economic empowerment programs to rebuild trust and demonstrate accountability. The company is committed to sustainable progress through collaboration with all parties concerned.
