The Ogun State government has renewed its pledge to provide quality education for all children in the state, aligning with its ‘ISEYA’ mantra.
This commitment was emphasized during the grand finale of the 5th Nestle Nutritional Quiz Competition held at Methodist Nursery and Primary School, Ago-Oko, Abeokuta.
Femi Majekodunmi, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), praised the dedication of students, teachers, and stakeholders in enhancing the state’s educational landscape.
He also commended Nestle Nigeria Plc for organizing the impactful competition and urged the company to extend similar initiatives to other local governments.
“We recognize Nestle’s unflinching commitment to education and unrelenting support in creating a conducive learning environment for our learners,” Majekodunmi stated.
Victoria Nwadoka, Corporate Communication and Sustainability Lead at Nestle, explained that the competition aims to nurture a new generation of young leaders who prioritize healthy living and sound decision-making.
The quiz saw fierce competition among schools, with Oke-Ona United School, Ilugun Elega, clinching the top spot. St. Peters Primary School, Siun, secured second place, while China Nigeria Friendship School Igbesa, Ado-Odo, Ota, and Sokoya Memorial School, Sagamu, took third and fourth positions respectively.
Saidat Oguntade, a participant from the winning school, expressed gratitude for the initiative and pledged that contestants would use the experience to enhance their learning and behavior.
This event underscores the collaborative efforts between the government and private sector in promoting education and nurturing young talent in Ogun State.
