Nollywood actor and political activist Kenneth Okonkwo has expressed optimism that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is poised to take power in Nigeria’s 2027 elections, promising a change in leadership from President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
On Monday, Okonkwo acknowledged the ADC’s setbacks in recent by-elections but emphasized that the party’s real test lies ahead in 2027. He dismissed the August 16 polls, where the ADC failed to win any of the 16 seats across nine states, noting that temporary losses would not define the party’s future.
“We are preparing to lead Nigeria and offer citizens a real alternative to the current administration. Tinubu will return to Bourdillon, and ADC will form the next government,” Okonkwo declared, stressing confidence in the party’s growing national presence.
Okonkwo highlighted that the ADC now has established structures in all 36 states of the federation, with former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi acting as a key party leader in Rivers State. He described the party as a viable alternative to both the ruling APC and the main opposition PDP, capable of tackling challenges like insecurity, economic hardship, and governance gaps.
He further noted that under the guidance of experienced leaders such as former Senate President David Mark, the ADC is strategically positioning itself to contest future elections with a strong nationwide campaign and grassroots support.
The actor-politician urged Nigerians to keep faith with the party, emphasizing that political transformation requires patience, unity, and a clear vision for the country’s future.
