Chief Olusola Oke, a governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ondo State, has officially declared his candidacy for the party’s ticket in the upcoming 2024 election.

Oke, who has contested the gubernatorial seat three times previously, emphasized that 2024 has been divinely appointed for him to emerge as the governor of Ondo State.

Having previously contested under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2012 and later under the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 2016, Oke faced a setback in 2020 when he lost the APC primary to the late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Undeterred by past challenges, Oke expressed his awareness of the people’s desire for his leadership and affirmed his commitment to serving Ondo State.

At a media parley in Akure, Oke disclosed that he had informed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of his intention to run for the APC ticket. He emphasized his preference for an indirect form of party primary but asserted that he would accept any mode of primary chosen by the APC leadership.

Oke articulated his vision for Ondo State, highlighting the need for a leader with a sense of commitment, vision, and a mission to address the challenges facing the state.

He underscored the urgency of tackling issues such as bad roads, unemployment, and the overall collapse of the state. Advocating for a focus on tapping into mineral resources to generate employment and income, Oke positioned himself as the right candidate to bring about positive change in Ondo State.

Expressing his understanding of the people’s plight, Oke emphasized that his candidacy was driven by a commitment to serve and leave a lasting legacy for the state. Despite his confidence in securing the APC ticket, he pledged not to defect from the party if he were to lose in the primary election, demonstrating his loyalty to the APC.
