Osun Government Vows To Renovate Courts And Strengthen Security After Arson Attack.

In response to the recent arson attack on Ilesa High Court 2, the Osun State Government has announced plans to commence the renovation of court premises across the state, while also prioritising the security of judicial facilities and personnel.

This development follows Sunday’s incident in which unidentified arsonists set ablaze the Ilesa High Court 2, resulting in the destruction of the court building and the loss of vital legal documents.

Speaking during an on-site inspection of the damaged court premises on Tuesday, the Osun State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Mr Oluwole Jimi-Bada, condemned the act in strong terms and assured the public that justice would prevail.

“This kind of lawlessness is unacceptable and will not go unpunished. The state government is working with security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice,” Jimi-Bada stated.

He was accompanied by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Dosu Babatunde, who also expressed concern over the attack, describing it as an assault on the state’s judicial integrity.

As part of its immediate response, the state government has concluded arrangements to rehabilitate not only the razed court but also other court facilities in need of attention throughout Osun. The move is aimed at ensuring that justice delivery is not disrupted and that the environment in which it is carried out remains safe and functional.

“The safety of our judicial workers and the security of court facilities are top priorities moving forward. We are putting in place comprehensive measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks,” Jimi-Bada added.

This renewed commitment by the state government comes amid broader efforts to maintain law and order and uphold the sanctity of the judiciary in Osun State.
