The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has petitioned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, urging an investigation into a controversial letter dated September 2, 2025.
The letter, allegedly issued from the Chief Judge’s office, instructed that a case before a vacation judge be heard substantively even after the vacation period. PDP Chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi described the letter as a “bizarre and unprecedented abuse of judicial process,” noting that it was signed by an unidentified individual on behalf of a personal aide, rather than a judge.
The PDP claims no party requested the transfer, raising concerns that the letter may have been backdated for political purposes. The party warned that, if confirmed, this could undermine the judiciary’s integrity.
This petition comes amid ongoing disputes over local government funds in Osun State. The PDP-led state government maintains that elected chairmen and councillors from October 2022 were lawfully removed by a Federal High Court judgment, upheld by the Court of Appeal. The APC has challenged this, prolonging the legal standoff.
The PDP’s petition calls for a thorough investigation to uphold judicial integrity and ensure justice in the local government funds crisis.
