Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has disbursed a substantial sum of N588 million to 19,720 beneficiaries through the Imole Osun Cash Grant Scheme.
The initiative aims to provide relief to the most vulnerable populations in the state, particularly amidst rising fuel prices and the overall high cost of living.
The beneficiaries, carefully selected from the State Social Register for Poor and Vulnerable Households, received varying amounts ranging from N25,000 to N30,000 each.
Governor Adeleke, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to social welfare, highlighted that the beneficiaries were identified based on their socioeconomic status to ensure the funds reach those most in need.
Furthermore, in a move to enhance financial inclusion, an additional 60,000 identified individuals from the poor segment of the population are set to receive ATM cards linked to their bank accounts.
This initiative, facilitated through collaboration with the Federal Government’s National Social Safety Net Project, aims to provide easier access to future grants and promote financial empowerment among the less privileged.
Governor Adeleke, who describes himself as a pro-poor leader, reiterated his administration’s dedication to social investment as a core focus area. He emphasized that the cash intervention is just one aspect of the government’s broader strategy to address poverty, unemployment, and low productivity within the state.
