Today, no fewer than 260,000 candidates across the nation participated in this year’s Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) held in 793 Computer-Based Test centres.
Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the exercise after monitoring several centres in Abuja.
The Mock UTME, aimed at assessing preparedness for the main UTME scheduled to begin on April 19, 2024, saw successful execution despite minor incidents in a few centres, which Oloyede assured would be addressed.
He also mentioned JAMB’s recent recruitment examination for the Nigerian Police conducted in 411 centres nationwide, emphasizing the board’s commitment to seamless processes.
With 1.98 million candidates registered for the main UTME, Oloyede highlighted the importance of limiting mock exam registrations to prevent it from becoming another full-fledged exam. Assuring readiness for the main UTME, he hinted at new mechanisms to enhance the examination system.
The results of the Mock UTME are expected to be released either today or tomorrow, as per Oloyede’s announcement. Additionally, Damilola Bamiro, JAMB’s Information and Communications Technology consultant, highlighted the board’s real-time interaction with examination centres through the JAMB Situation Room, ensuring prompt resolution of any issues during the exam.
The 2024 UTME is slated to run from April 19 to April 29, 2024, according to the initial schedule.
