Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced plans to recruit 7,000 teachers to address the staffing shortfall in public primary schools.
This development comes as a fulfillment of his electoral promise and reflects the administration’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education in the state.
Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, the Executive Chairman of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), made this announcement during a press briefing held in Ibadan on Friday. He stated the importance of this recruitment drive in meeting the educational needs of the state and bridging the gap in teacher numbers.
The state government also disclosed its intention to employ 100 caregivers in the special needs sub-sector, further demonstrating its dedication to providing inclusive education for all children in Oyo State.
Addressing concerns about misinformation and potential scams surrounding the recruitment process, Adeniran urged aspiring applicants to exercise caution and avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes. He clarified that no staff member has been authorized to collect money from applicants, reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency and fairness.
Adeniran assured the public that the recruitment process would be conducted meticulously, with a focus on merit and in accordance with the governor’s directives. He stressed that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure a smooth and credible exercise, and advised applicants to seek information directly from the Board rather than relying on third-party sources.
As the next stage of the recruitment process approaches, the Board will announce the application procedure in collaboration with relevant agencies. Adeniran expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for his unwavering commitment to improving the education sector in Oyo State and urged continued support for the government’s efforts in this regard.
