Super Falcons Face Tough Path to Paris 2024 Olympics Football Event.
Nigeria’s senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons, are gearing up for a challenging journey should they qualify for the football event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
During the draw ceremony held at the Pulse Building in Paris, the nine-time African champions were alerted to the possibility of facing formidable opponents in Group C, including world champions Spain, Japan (Olympic runners-up in 2012), and Brazil (silver-medalists in 2004 and 2008).
To secure their spot in Group C, the Nigerian team must first navigate a challenging double-header against current African champions South Africa.
The first leg of this crucial clash is scheduled for April 1, 2024, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, with the second leg set for April 9, 2024, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
Meanwhile, other African teams such as Morocco and Zambia are also vying for Olympic qualification.
Depending on their placement, they could find themselves in Group B alongside formidable opponents like the USA, Germany, or Australia.
