PDP Nominates Ezenwafor As Governorship Candidate For Anambra Election.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially selected Mr Jude Ezenwafor as its candidate for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled for 8 November 2025.
Ezenwafor emerged as the party’s flagbearer during a peaceful and well-attended congress held on Tuesday at the Women’s Development Centre in Awka, the state capital.
Chairman of the Anambra Governorship Election Congress Committee, Dr Cornell Onwubuya, announced that Ezenwafor was the sole aspirant in the race and received overwhelming support from party delegates. Out of 999 delegates listed, 853 were accredited, with Ezenwafor securing 798 ‘yes’ votes. Twenty-six votes were declared invalid.
Declaring the result, Dr Onwubuya stated: “By the power vested in me and in line with PDP rules and guidelines, I hereby declare Jude Ezenwafor our candidate for the 2025 Anambra governorship election.”
In his acceptance speech, Ezenwafor thanked party members for their confidence and pledged to lead a focused campaign aimed at restoring purposeful leadership to the state.
“Our great party is on a rescue mission in Anambra. We are committed to reclaiming leadership and restoring the confidence of the people in good governance. I urge the electorate to support our vision,” he said.
The PDP is seeking to regain control in Anambra after years of political shifts in the state, and Ezenwafor’s nomination marks the beginning of what is expected to be a keenly contested election campaign.
