The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced that it will begin the screening of aspirants contesting for various national offices in its upcoming 2025 Elective National Convention on Tuesday, October 28.
The screening process will take place at the NCOC Secretariat Conference Hall, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, starting from 2:00 PM, ensuring a structured and organized vetting of all hopefuls.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, who chairs the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC), stated that this screening exercise is a key step in preparing for the party’s national convention. In a statement issued from Abuja, he stressed the importance of compliance with party guidelines to ensure fairness and transparency throughout the screening process.
In preparation for the exercise, the NCOC has set Monday, October 27, as the deadline for aspirants to submit their completed expressions of interest and nomination forms to the secretariat. Governor Fintiri emphasized that adherence to this timeline is crucial to avoid delays and to maintain an orderly process for all candidates involved.
The screening of the appeal committee has been scheduled for Thursday, October 30. The governor urged aspirants and all party stakeholders to be present and to ensure all requirements are met. The PDP leadership has highlighted that this step is necessary to address any concerns or objections before the convention officially begins.
The National Convention itself is set to hold on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State. Party officials described the convention as a major milestone in PDP’s preparations for future elections, including the 2027 general elections, providing a platform for consolidating party unity and setting strategic directions.
Stakeholders and party members have been advised to monitor updates from the NCOC and to participate actively in the screening and subsequent convention. Governor Fintiri concluded that the PDP remains committed to conducting a transparent and credible process that reflects the party’s democratic values and ensures that all aspirants are given a fair opportunity.
