Penalty Galore As Spain And Brazil Played Out A 3:3 Draw At The Bernabeu

Spain and Brazil played out an amazing 3-3 draw at the Santiago Bernabéu, as the latter protected their impressive record of losing just one international friendly in 24 as the designated away side with the last kick of the game.

Spain started stronger, and nudged themselves in front just 12 minutes in via the penalty spot. Joäo Gomes tripped the lively Lamine Yamal in the area, allowing the returning Rodri to step up and strike straight down the middle – just his second goal for his country.

Yamal continued to turn Brazil’s defence inside and out, and his dynamic play created further chances for Nico Williams and Fabiån Ruiz, but both were off target.

Eventually, Yamal turned provider for Dani Olmo, whose quick feet bamboozled a couple of Brazilian defenders before he curled neatly into the top corner to double Spain’s advantage.

Brazil were second best up until this point, but were handed a lifeline when Unai Simon passed straight to Rodrygo, who looped the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net – the Real Madrid star accepting a gift in his club’s home stadium.

Rodri’s vicious volley almost immediately restored Spain’s two-goal lead before HT, but Bento saved well in just his second Brazilian cap.

Both teams had opportunities to score early in the second half, but it was Brazil who found an equaliser through their 17-year-old prodigy
Endrick.

Fresh from scoring the winner against England at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night, he came off the bench again to strike, piercing a lethal volley into the bottom corner following a corner.

Spain responded with a few strikes of their own, but none of them tested Bento enough.
However, with just five minutes remaining, the hosts earned another penalty as Dani Carvajal was fouled, and Rodri stepped up again, this time sending Bento the wrong way to net his brace and probably win the game for his country.

That was not the end of the drama though, as a third spot kick of the night was given in the last minute of stoppage time, this time for Brazil.

Lucas Paquetå slotted home with the last kick of the match, ending Spain’s four-game winning run on home soil as a result, and ensuring Brazil remained unbeaten during the international break.
