Yobo Village, located within the Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, was the scene of a concerning incident last Friday when a group of armed individuals, commonly referred to as “hoodlums,” carried out an invasion.

The invaders were reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles and an assortment of other weapons, and their intentions appeared to be focused on launching an attack within the village.

Ogun State’s Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, released an official statement to provide insight into the event. According to Odutola, the armed individuals specifically targeted the residence of a resident named Wakili Olalekan within Yobo Village.

The situation came to light when a vigilant community member issued a distress call, prompting an immediate response from the Divisional Police Officer in Ibogun. This swift mobilization of law enforcement personnel was crucial in addressing the emerging threat.

It was also revealed that the hoodlums had been invited to the location by another resident, Olusesan Ogaode, who resided at the same address as the primary target.

“As a result of their efforts, eight suspected hoodlums were apprehended,” he told

She identified the eight arrested men as: Adebila Adebayo, 32; Kola Amosun, 35; Abiola Lanre, 20; Fakeye Gabriel, 30; Lekan Adeleye, 15y; Adewale Ogaode, 26; Oluwasesan Ogaode, 25; Vincent Mercy, 20; and Ajibade Rachael, 19.

Odutola maintained that, “They had planned to go to carry out an attack on the village but the superior intelligence of the police countered their plans leading to their arrest.”

One unregistered white Highlander, one unregistered Green Mazda 626 Saloon car, one live AK-47 ammunition, two live cartridges, two knives and charms were reportedly recovered from the men.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Abiodun Alamutu, has ordered that preliminary investigations be carried out, while suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
