President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the alarming number of out-of-school children in the country. During a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos yesterday, the president emphasized the need to address this issue by establishing more schools, hiring teachers, and providing a daily meal for school children.
He stressed that these efforts should align with the progressive ideology the administration aims to pursue.
President Tinubu underscored the importance of a progressive and inclusive democracy, with a primary focus on combating poverty through the creation of job opportunities for youth and ensuring quality education for all Nigerian children.
He voiced his support for the establishment of the National Institute of Progressive Studies by the party. The institute is expected to conduct thorough research, educate party members on democratic principles and good governance, and provide a distinct identity for the APC.
Furthermore, President Tinubu urged the party’s leadership to concentrate on targeting more youths and women in its ongoing e-registration and digital membership validation exercise, set to conclude in the first quarter of 2024.
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the APC, informed the president that the NWC is actively planning to ensure the success of the party in the upcoming bye-elections for National and State legislative houses scheduled for February 2024.
