PSG Smash Historic Record With 39-Game Unbeaten Away Run In Europe’s Top Leagues

PSG Smash Historic Record With 39-Game Unbeaten Away Run In Europe’s Top Leagues.

Paris Saint-Germain have etched their name into football history by setting a new record for the longest unbeaten away run in Europe’s top five leagues, surpassing AC Milan’s longstanding mark from 1993. The French champions achieved this remarkable feat with an extraordinary streak of 39 consecutive away matches without defeat, comprising 30 wins and 9 draws, as confirmed following their latest Ligue 1 triumph on 22 April 2025.

Under the stewardship of manager Luis Enrique, PSG have redefined dominance on the road, breaking a record that stood for over three decades. AC Milan’s fabled 38-game unbeaten away streak, set between 1991 and 1993 under Fabio Capello, was considered one of the most enduring benchmarks in European football. Yet, PSG’s relentless consistency and tactical brilliance have now eclipsed that milestone, cementing their place as a modern footballing powerhouse.

The record-breaking run, which began after their last away defeat in Ligue 1, has seen PSG navigate challenging fixtures across France with unmatched resilience. Their latest game, a hard-fought draw against Nice not only extended the streak but also underscored the team’s hunger to maintain their impeccable form. With 30 victories in this sequence, PSG have demonstrated an attacking flair led by the likes of Ousmane Dembélé, who has scored 21 goals this season, and a robust defensive unit marshalled by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Luis Enrique, hailed for his transformative impact since taking the helm in July 2023, has been widely praised for instilling a culture of solidarity and discipline. “This is an incredible achievement for the players and the club,” Enrique said in a press conference following the Le Havre match. “We’re not just chasing records; we’re building a team that competes at the highest level every week. The focus now is to keep pushing forward.” His emphasis on collective attacking and defending has seen 18 different players contribute goals this season, a stark contrast to the star-driven sides of previous years reliant on Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, and Lionel Messi.

The milestone comes as PSG continue their pursuit of an unprecedented unbeaten Ligue 1 campaign, a feat no French club has ever accomplished. Having already secured their fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title with six games to spare, the Parisians are now five matches away from potentially finishing the season without a single league defeat. “We’re motivated to make history,” Enrique added. “No one has gone unbeaten in France before, and that’s a challenge we’re embracing.”

This record-breaking run has also bolstered PSG’s confidence as they compete on multiple fronts. The club have reached the Champions League semi-finals, where they will face Arsenal, and are set to contest the Coupe de France final against Stade de Reims next month. Their ability to maintain such form across competitions is a testament to Enrique’s tactical acumen and the squad’s depth.

Fans and pundits alike have taken to social media to celebrate the achievement, with posts on X describing the run as “insane” and lauding Enrique’s “masterclass” in management. The statistical significance of the streak is staggering: PSG’s 39-game run surpasses not only Milan’s 38 but also Bayern Munich’s 33-game streak (2012–2014) and Inter Milan’s 32-game record (2006–2008). The team’s away form has yielded an average of 2.6 goals per match, underlining their attacking prowess.

As PSG continue their campaign, the footballing world watches with bated breath to see if they can extend their historic run and achieve the elusive unbeaten Ligue 1 season. For now, Luis Enrique and his squad can bask in the glory of a record that places them among the all-time greats of European football.
