The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a fake doctor, Chidera Ugwu, and an accomplice for their alleged involvement in the death of a pregnant woman. The suspects are accused of administering fatal injections to induce a miscarriage, resulting in the tragic demise of the expectant mother.
The arrests ensued after Nura Balarabe of Tofa LGA reported that 19-year-old Ukasha Muhammed had impregnated his 19-year-old sister, Amina Bala, of Kwanar Mahuwa Tofa LGA. Muhammed, in collaboration with 24-year-old Ugwu, reportedly administered injections and drugs to Amina Balarabe, resulting in her untimely death.
In a statement by the Kano State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, the suspects have confessed to the crime. Further investigations revealed a disturbing pattern, suggesting that Ugwu had allegedly been involved in administering fatal injections to pregnant women, leading to multiple tragic outcomes.
In a separate incident, the police have also arrested 18-year-old Yusuf Haruna, widely known as Lagwatsani, in the Dala local government area. Haruna is accused of fatally stabbing the renowned 45-year-old Imam, Mallam Sani Mohammed Shuaibu. The incident occurred while the Imam was performing ablution when Haruna, allegedly warned by the victim to cease smoking Indian hemp around the mosque premises, attacked and fatally stabbed him.
CP Usaini Gumel, assuring the public of the command’s commitment to thorough investigations, emphasized the objective to bring the perpetrators to justice and deter others from contemplating such criminal actions. The CP urged the public to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency contacts for immediate action.
