Reasons Why You Must Really Eat An Apple A Day

They are worth all the hype.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Well, this is not to say that you will never get sick but the nutritional value of apples is something you need to be taking each day.

You may think that they are simply overrated but the truth is that they are worth the hype even though they are not as affordable. So, should you be eating an apple each day? If you can afford it, it’s completely worth it and you have no reason not to do so.

What are these nutritional benefits that you get from eating apples? We have listed a few:

1. It’s a powerhouse of vitamins

Were it not for the various vitamins we get from fruits and vegetables, we would be sick each day. Apples are rich in several vitamins that protect our bodies from diseases and infections. For instance, they are rich in Vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant that destroys free radicals.

2. Diabetes

Some fruits are higher and others are lower in glycemic index. Diabetic people are supposed to eat more of those that are low in glycemic index such as apples. After digestion, apples release sugar into the blood at a slower rate as compared to other fruits that are high in glycemic index.

3. Soluble fiber

Fiber is not only important for digestion but it also helps in keeping the cholesterol levels low. You know what happens if your cholesterol levels are too high, don’t you?

4. They promote weight loss

Thanks to their high fiber and water content, apples make it easier for anyone trying to lose weight. They keep you full and are a far much better option than snacking on fries that are full of fat and calories. The fact that they are also low in calories supports their weight loss ability.

5. They are good for the heart

We already mentioned that apples lower cholesterol levels which reduces the risk of heart diseases. They also contain polyphenols which are linked to low blood pressure thus lowering the risk of heart-related diseases.

6. Cancer prevention

Studies show that eating apples reduces the risk of getting cancer.
