Rejoinder: Senator Amosun Criticizes Oshiomhole, Labels Him “Biggest And Destructive Threat” To APC

Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has launched a scathing critique against Senator Adams Oshiomhole, describing him as the “biggest and most destructive threat” to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The rebuke comes in response to Oshiomhole’s recent statements revisiting the APC primaries in 2019 and suggesting a significant financial investment in winning governorship elections.

The clash between Amosun and Oshiomhole dates back to the APC primaries in 2019 when they were at odds during the selection of the party’s governorship candidate for Ogun State.

The dispute arose from the contested primary that favored Dapo Abiodun over Amosun’s preferred candidate, Adekunle Akinlade.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Amosun criticized Oshiomhole’s narrative, labeling it as laden with lies and questioning Oshiomhole’s integrity.

He added that under Oshiomhole’s leadership, the APC conducted one of the worst primaries in Nigeria’s contemporary political history, resulting in internal conflicts and Oshiomhole’s eventual removal as the Chairman of the party.

Amosun reminded the public of the allegations preceding the controversial primaries and Oshiomhole’s subsequent invitation by the Department of State Service (DSS) to address serious allegations.

The former governor emphasized that Oshiomhole’s actions posed a significant threat to the existence of the APC at that time.

He concluded by cautioning Nigerians not to forget the turbulent period within the APC, asserting that Oshiomhole’s recent remarks at an event addressing democratic and party challenges only reinforced the perception of him as a disruptive force within the party.
