Professor Zaccaeus Adangor, SAN, Rivers State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, has tendered his resignation from the State Executive Council.
This decision follows his rejection of a recent redeployment to the Ministry of Special Duties within the Governor’s Office.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s minor cabinet reshuffle, announced through a letter issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, saw Adangor and the State Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu, among others, being shuffled to different ministries. However, Adangor’s allegiance to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, seemed to have influenced his stance.
In his resignation letter addressed to the SSG and dated April 24, 2024, Adangor expressed his rejection of the redeployment and cited reasons for his departure. He accused Governor Fubara of unwarranted interference in the discharge of his duties, highlighting directives to abstain from handling legal matters against the state government.
Adangor’s departure marks the end of his five-year tenure serving the government and people of Rivers State. In his parting words, he emphasized the need to safeguard his reputation, signaling a decisive break from Governor Fubara’s administration.
As the political landscape in Rivers State continues to evolve, Adangor’s resignation adds another layer of intrigue, underscoring the tensions within the state’s political circles.
