Less than a day after Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike offered a N30 million reward for information leading to the capture of the infamous cult figure known as “Bobrisky of Gokana,” the Nigerian Army successfully apprehended the suspect.
Governor Wike confirmed the capture during a security meeting with leaders of Rumuolumeni Community at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday and expressed his commitment to fulfilling the pledged bounty.
Governor Wike expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army for their swift action in capturing the suspected cultist, stating, “The Army has captured Bobrisky of Gokana. I will pay the bounty that I promised to the Nigerian Army. Anyone who generates insecurity in Rivers State, I am ready to pay any amount to ensure the arrest of that person.”
During the meeting, Governor Wike urged community leaders to collaborate with the State Security Council by providing information on criminals in their areas.
He emphasized the importance of proactive measures to curb the activities of cult groups and enhance overall security, particularly in flashpoint areas like Rumuolumeni, where criminals often utilize waterways as escape routes.
Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Mustapha Dandaura, addressed the prevalent issue of cultism, noting that almost all communities have been infiltrated by cultists.
He commended Governor Wike for donating vehicles to security agencies to combat crime and assured that security forces would intensify efforts to address and mitigate criminal activities in the state. The commissioner pledged a heightened battle against crime to achieve tangible results in improving security conditions.
