Heartbreaking News for Super Eagles Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

In a deeply saddening turn of events, the Nigerian football community is rallying around Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who has suffered a profound personal loss. Just months after the passing of his father, Nwabali has now lost his mother to what has been described as the “cold hands of death.”

The 28-year-old, who has been a key figure in the Nigerian national team, particularly noted for his performances in the recent Africa Cup of Nations, is going through an unimaginable period of grief. Nwabali, who plays his club football for Chippa United in South Africa, made headlines earlier this year for his heroics in goal, helping Nigeria secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The news of his mother’s passing was shared by Nwabali on his official X account with the statement “ RIP Mom, 2025 already the worst year of my life ”.

Fans and well-wishers from around the globe have since been offering their condolences. Messages of support have flooded in, with many expressing solidarity and prayers for Nwabali and his family during this time of sorrow.

“Nwabali has shown incredible strength on the pitch, and now we must show him the same support off it,” said a fan on X, reflecting the sentiments of many Nigerians. The football community has always been known for its tight-knit support system, and this moment is no different, with clubs, teammates, and even rival fans coming together in support.

As Nwabali mourns, the footballing world watches on with a heavy heart, hoping that the love and prayers from fans and the football community will provide some comfort. The Nigerian Football Federation has yet to announce if Nwabali will take a leave from upcoming matches, but the support for him remains unwavering.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Stanley Nwabali and his family as they navigate through this painful chapter.
