Prominent Nigerians including former Senate President Bukola Saraki and former Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, have paid glowing tributes to the late former Governor of Kwara State, Mohammed Lawal Adebayo, describing him as a visionary leader whose legacy continues to inspire generations.
The dignitaries spoke at a memorial event held in Ilorin to honour the former governor, where family members, political associates, and community leaders gathered to celebrate his enduring contributions to the state’s development and public service.
In his remarks, Dr. Bukola Saraki described the late Adebayo as a man of integrity who served the people of Kwara with selflessness and passion. He said, “Governor Adebayo was a patriot who believed deeply in the progress of his people. His impact in governance and community development remains remarkable.”
Similarly, Professor Ibrahim Gambari praised the late governor’s commitment to unity, discipline, and public accountability, noting that his leadership style set a standard for good governance in Kwara and beyond. He added that the late Adebayo’s values of honesty and fairness remain a guiding example for those in public office today.
Other dignitaries, including political leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the Adebayo family, also spoke about his humility, compassion, and relentless drive to uplift the lives of citizens. They described him as a bridge-builder who placed the interest of the people above political differences.
The event featured prayers, tributes, and cultural displays in honour of the late governor, as speakers urged the younger generation to emulate his virtues of integrity, service, and dedication to nation-building.
