WhatsApp is reported to have commenced the unveiling of screen lock feature for desktop users. This comes few weeks after rolling out the ability to share screens during video calls with its users.

WhatsApp is reported to started rolling out the screen lock feature for WhatsApp Desktop beta testers. With this feature, it will be possible to protect the app from unauthorised access with a password.

“WhatsApp Web is locked thanks to the screen lock feature, and it asks for a password to view the list of your conversations. To discover if this feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account, just open WhatsApp Settings > Privacy.

In case the feature is available to your account, you should see a screen lock entry point here. When enabled, you will have to enter a password to unlock WhatsApp Web,” posited the report.

When you enable this feature, it ensures that even if someone gains access to your computer while you’re away, they won’t be able to access your WhatsApp chats and messages without entering the password. It was further deduced that if a user forgets the password, then they will have to log out of WhatsApp Web and then login again by scanning the QR code.

WhatsApp Unveils Screen Sharing Feature

After an extensive period of beta testing spanning nearly a couple of months, WhatsApp has finally rolled out the Screen Share functionality for global user base.

As the name suggests, this feature allows users to share their phone and PC screens with others during video calls. However, it’s important to note that certain types of content are not eligible for sharing, and WhatsApp has implemented several security measures to safeguard users’ privacy.

In addition to this, the company has also introduced a landscape mode. Unlike the portrait mode. Landscape mode offers a wider and more expansive view of the video call interface. By activating this feature, call participants can see a larger number of people on the screen simultaneously, enhancing the overall video call experience.
