Senate President Akpabio Celebrates 11-Year-Old TeenEagle Bronze Winner.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio hosted 11-year-old Michelle Antai, a bronze medal winner at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals, at the National Assembly in Abuja, commending her exceptional achievement on the international stage. The young prodigy, a student of Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC) in Abuja, was recognised for her outstanding performance in the prestigious English language competition held at the University of Surrey, UK, from 27 July to 3 August.

Michelle, competing in the TeenEagle 1 category for students born between 2013 and 2015, secured third place and a special award for Best in Charisma among over 20,000 participants from 69 countries. The competition tested receptive skills, such as reading and listening, and productive skills, including writing and speaking, showcasing Michelle’s mastery of English. Akpabio praised her accomplishment, stating, “This feat shows that Nigerian youths, when given the right opportunities, can excel globally. I congratulate Michelle and her parents, Dr and Mrs Antai, for this remarkable achievement.” He urged government agencies to continue supporting young talents to unlock their potential.

The Senate President highlighted Nigeria’s strong representation at the global event, noting that eight students from NTIC Abuja and Yobe participated, with Michelle among the standout performers. Her bronze medal and charisma award have brought pride to her school and the nation, reinforcing Nigeria’s growing reputation in international academic competitions. Akpabio described the award as a call for Michelle to strive for even greater heights, expressing confidence in her future contributions to Nigeria.

Michelle’s parents expressed gratitude for the recognition, crediting her success to dedication and the supportive environment provided by NTIC. The TeenEagle Global Finals, accredited by Brooke House College, offer participants not only academic challenges but also cultural experiences, including trips to UK attractions and networking opportunities, fostering global collaboration and creativity.

Akpabio’s reception of Michelle underscores the government’s commitment to celebrating young Nigerians who excel internationally. He reiterated the Senate’s support for initiatives that promote education and youth development, urging other students to emulate Michelle’s discipline and ambition. As Nigeria continues to nurture its young talents, Michelle’s achievement serves as an inspiring testament to the nation’s bright future.
