Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa Resigns As Commander-General Of Kano’s Hisbah Board

Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa has announced his resignation as the Commander-General of Kano’s Hisbah Board, citing “discouragement” from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the reason behind his decision.

Daurawa expressed his disappointment with the governor’s remarks despite his concerted efforts to uphold societal morality during his tenure at Hisbah.

In a video posted on his social media platform, Daurawa disclosed that he was currently in Kaduna State, engaging with lawmakers to discuss the implementation of mandatory pre-marital health checks in Kano, akin to other Nigerian states.

Highlighting his endeavors to foster moral values, Daurawa mentioned his active engagement with Kannywood and TikTok celebrities, providing guidance and financial assistance to some individuals.

However, he lamented that those who disregarded their guidance faced consequences.

Addressing Governor Yusuf directly, Daurawa extended his apologies for any grievances and announced his resignation from the position bestowed upon him in Hisbah.

He wished the governor success in his leadership endeavors.

Governor Yusuf had expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which Hisbah’s ‘Operation Kau da Badala’ was being executed across the state. Operation ‘Kau da Badala’ is an initiative by Hisbah aimed at combating immorality and enforcing Islamic values.

During a meeting with Imams at Kano Government House, the governor criticized the board’s approach, particularly highlighting incidents where individuals were reportedly subjected to physical violence and mistreatment during raids conducted by Hisbah operatives.

Governor Yusuf emphasized the need for Hisbah to operate within the bounds of the law and uphold human dignity while carrying out its mandate.

He underscored the importance of fostering Islamic values through constructive engagement rather than resorting to violent measures.

Despite these criticisms, Hisbah has continued its operations, conducting several raids at public places across Kano in its ongoing efforts to enforce morality and uphold Islamic principles.
