Six Sentenced For Extortion Plot Against Paul Pogba.
Six men, including Mathias Pogba, the brother of France international Paul Pogba, have been sentenced to prison terms ranging from three to eight years for their involvement in an extortion scheme targeting the footballer. The sentences were handed down on Thursday, according to French media reports.
The case dates back to 2022 when Paul Pogba revealed he had been the target of extortion attempts and threats from an organised gang. Among the accused was Mathias Pogba, who was placed under formal investigation.
Paul Pogba, 31, informed the Paris prosecution office that childhood friends had attempted to extort him in March 2022, leading him to pay €100,000 (£87,000) to the group.
Mathias Pogba received a three-year prison sentence, with two years suspended, and was fined €20,000. He was found guilty of organised extortion and attempted extortion.
The other individuals sentenced include:
– Roushdane K: Eight years in prison.
– Boubacar C: Four years, with two suspended.
– Machikour K: Four years, with three suspended.
– Mamadou M: Five years, with 12 months suspended.
– Adama C: Five years.
The case highlighted the darker side of fame, with Paul Pogba expressing shock at being targeted by those he once considered friends. The verdict brings closure to the ordeal, with the court sending a strong message against organised crime and extortion.
