Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has issued a stern warning against lawlessness and herder attacks on farmers in the Southwest.
Igboho, reacting to comments by Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore’s national president, Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, emphasized that President Bola Tinubu would not tolerate the mindless killings and destruction of farmlands.
Igboho, known for his activism in advocating for the Yoruba nation, cautioned herders against planning further attacks on farmers. He responded to Bodejo’s dismissal of his earlier quit notice to Fulani herders, labeling Bodejo as a “mere attention seeker.”
In October, Igboho had given Fulani herders seven days to vacate the Southwest. Bodejo, in a recent interview, condemned Igboho’s ultimatum.
However, Igboho reiterated that Nigeria’s Constitution does not support lawless acts such as the indiscriminate killing of farmers, rape, and destruction of farmlands.
In a statement, Igboho emphasized, “It is imperative for the Miyetti Allah group to be conscious of the fact that the acts of lawlessness permeated under former President Muhammadu Buhari will not hold sway under the immediate incumbent President Bola Tinubu.”
Igboho urged security agencies to curb the activities of alleged killer Fulani herders and prevent the reignition of tension and insecurity in Yorubaland.
He called on the Miyetti Allah group to abandon any plans for unprovoked attacks on farmers, emphasizing that relevant security agencies and the people would not allow further harm to innocent farmers.
