Super Eagles Star Samuel Chukwueze Honours Father with N465m Mansion And Uplifts Abia Community.

Nigerian international and AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze has brought joy and transformation to his hometown of Umu Chimaelu, Okoko Item, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, unveiling a stunning #465 million nine-bedroom mansion for his father, Reverend John Nkasiobi Chukwueze, on Tuesday, 11 June. In a heartfelt gesture of philanthropy, the 26-year-old footballer also donated 20 brand-new tricycles (Keke NAPEP), awarded educational scholarships, and provided cash grants to underprivileged youths and residents, earning widespread praise for his commitment to his roots.

The grand unveiling of the luxurious mansion, built on the family’s ancestral land and equipped with modern amenities, drew a vibrant crowd of community elders, childhood friends, and well-wishers. Reverend Chukwueze, overcome with emotion, shared a tearful reflection on the family’s past struggles, recalling times of financial hardship when he felt unable to provide for his children. “I was ashamed because there was nowhere I could lay my head in my hometown,” he told journalists, dedicating the house to the glory of God and the Chukwueze family. “Samuel has brought pride and joy beyond words.”

Chukwueze’s generosity extended far beyond his family. His donation of 20 tricycles, valued at over #65 million, aims to empower local youths by supporting their livelihoods through small-scale transport businesses. The scholarships and cash gifts are set to provide educational opportunities and financial relief for less privileged community members, sparking hope and celebration across Okoko Item. “This is more than charity; it’s an investment in our youth and their futures,” said a local elder, describing Chukwueze as a “true son of the soil.”

The AC Milan star, who rose to fame after winning the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup with Nigeria and starring for Villarreal before his £20 million move to Milan in 2023, has a long history of giving back. In 2022, he donated a £30 million coaster bus to Superstars Football Academy in Uyo to support grassroots football, acknowledging his mentor Victor Apugo, who nurtured his talent at Diamond Football Academy. “Samuel is not just scoring goals in Europe; he’s changing lives at home,” a resident remarked.

Veteran sports journalist Ganiyu Oloyede praised Chukwueze’s actions, urging other footballers to emulate his example. “Building a home in the village and empowering youths shows he’s a well-brought-up lad. This will help reduce crime and inspire others,” Oloyede told Legit.ng. Social media posts on X echoed the sentiment, with users hailing Chukwueze as a role model for Nigerian athletes.

Despite a challenging season at AC Milan, where he has struggled for consistency under three managers, Chukwueze’s off-field impact remains undeniable. His recent performance in Nigeria’s Unity Cup, where he dazzled against Ghana and Jamaica, and a stunning solo goal in a 2025 AFCON qualifier against Rwanda, highlight his talent. As interest from clubs like Aston Villa and Real Betis grows ahead of a potential summer transfer, Chukwueze’s legacy in Okoko Item stands as a testament to his humility and dedication to uplifting his community.

“This is about restoration and hope,” Chukwueze said at the unveiling. “I want my people to know that from humble beginnings, greatness can rise.” His actions have not only honoured his family but also inspired a new generation in Abia State and beyond.
