Team Nigeria Poised for Strong Olympic Performance, Says Coach Rena Wakama.

As Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress, ramps up their preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics, head coach Rena Wakama has expressed her confidence in the team’s ability to excel in the upcoming competition.

Coach Wakama has assured fans and supporters that D’Tigress possesses the necessary quality to perform exceptionally well when the Olympics commence in late July. Her optimism stems from the rigorous training sessions the team has been undergoing since their arrival in Germany for the pre-Olympics camp.

“Based on the training sessions the players have had since arriving in Germany for the Paris 2024 Olympics, scheduled to take place from 26 July to 10 August, they are poised for a successful story,” Coach Wakama stated.

D’Tigress has set up their training camp in Saarbrücken, Germany, where they are honing their skills ahead of the prestigious multi-sport event. Coach Wakama highlighted the team’s high spirits and continuous improvement during practice sessions.

“Things have been going well in the camp over the last few days, as we have had great practice sessions, and the girls are in high spirits,” Wakama remarked. “The girls are responding well to training and improving every day, and that’s what matters. I am confident that the girls will be able to showcase their talents when we get to Paris. I’m excited and looking forward to the games.”

To further sharpen their skills and strategies, D’Tigress will engage in three friendly matches. They will play against Germany in Berlin on 19 July, face Serbia in Belgrade on 21 July, and compete against Japan in Lille, France, on 24 July.

Coach Wakama emphasised the team’s commitment to competing fiercely on the court and assured that they would not rest on their laurels. With their sights set on a successful outing, D’Tigress is ready to take on the top teams in this global competition.

As the countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympics continues, Team Nigeria remains focused and determined to make a mark in women’s basketball on the world stage.
