Temi Ajibade, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has shared her thoughts on marriage, privacy, and her decision to take her husband’s surname after marrying singer and entrepreneur Mr Eazi.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Temi explained that taking her husband’s name was a personal choice and a natural step for her as a married woman.

“I think it’s more about owning your own narrative,” she said, discussing her preference for keeping certain aspects of her life private. “There’s something about moving in silence that allows you to have control over things. It allows you to build the narrative you want, and you’re able to share when you feel ready to share and in the way you want to share it.”

Temi described Mr Eazi as her best friend and the person she wants to spend her life with. “He’s my person. And I think when you meet your person, you know. I can’t imagine spending the rest of my life with anybody else,” she gushed. When asked why she chose Mr Eazi, Temi replied, “There are too many reasons. How would I choose one?”

The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in August 2025, after proposing in Iceland over three years prior. Temi’s decision to take her husband’s surname has sparked discussions on social media, with some users debating the significance of taking a spouse’s surname in modern marriages.

Temi’s father, Femi Otedola, recently published a memoir, which Temi believes offers valuable lessons about his entrepreneurial journey. “My dad has a wealth of wisdom, and I’ve been very fortunate as his daughter to learn from him growing up,” she said. She praises his resilience and ability to navigate challenges, which has inspired her own approach to life and work.

Temi emphasizes the importance of acknowledging one’s privilege and using it to make a positive impact. “I think it’s very important for people who are privileged, especially people who are born into privilege, to acknowledge that leg up they’ve gotten in life,” she noted.
