President Bola Tinubu has urged the South East political class to emulate the late Premier of the defunct Eastern Region, Dr Michael Okpara’s inclusive politics.
This call was made during a visit to Abia State, where Tinubu inaugurated the renovated and retrofitted Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia.
The President, represented by Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, described Okpara as a visionary politician who positioned the region at the center of national politics. Tinubu commended the Abia State government for transforming the auditorium into a modern landmark, worthy of Okpara’s memory. “Those of you speaking negatively about Nigeria should stop doing so. Sixty five years is not a joke. We must educate our children and elderly, and invest in mechanization in agriculture,” Tinubu said.
The renovated auditorium is a testament to Governor Alex Otti’s administration’s commitment to infrastructural development. The governor recalled that the facility was in a dilapidated state before his administration commenced its reconstruction in 2023. Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to nation building and socioeconomic development, highlighting his government’s efforts to promote inclusive and equitable governance.
The program is expected to have a significant impact on the state’s economy and education sector. With improved internet access, residents can now access online resources, educational materials, and job opportunities. The program will also enable businesses to operate more efficiently, access new markets, and increase their online presence.
The Anambra State government has also introduced a Mobile Tech Hub, a custom built bus providing free WiFi to residents, students, and businesses, further expanding internet access in the state. Additionally, the Smart School Project aims to distribute laptops and digital tools to schools, promoting digital learning and 21st century skills development.
Tinubu’s administration is a step towards creating a digitally inclusive society, where everyone has access to the opportunities and benefits of the digital age. The program is a testament to Governor Soludo’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and economic growth in the state.
