President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid tribute to the late Chief (Mrs.) Hannah Idowu Dideolu (HID) Awolowo, describing her as a “pillar of courage and dignity” whose life continues to inspire Nigerians.
In a statement marking the tenth anniversary of her passing, President Tinubu noted that Mama Awolowo’s legacy remains deeply respected across the nation. He highlighted her unwavering support for her husband, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and her dedication to public service as a guiding example for generations.
“Mama Awolowo was a pillar of courage and dignity who stood firmly beside Chief Obafemi Awolowo and carried his legacy with uncommon strength,” President Tinubu said. He added that she was more than a wife and mother, becoming a “mother not only to her family but also a guiding light for generations of Nigerians.”
The President praised her resilience and devotion to national ideals, recalling how she stood by her husband through trials and triumphs, demonstrating faith, discipline, and love for the country. He concluded his tribute with a prayer, wishing for her legacy to continue inspiring Nigerians.
