Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court has scheduled the trial of Bello Bodejo, leader of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, for May 29.
This follows the dismissal of Bodejo’s bail application.
Bodejo, who faces charges related to terrorism, was absent at the previous court session, resulting in a delay.
However, his counsel, Ahmed Raji, assured the court that Bodejo is prepared for the upcoming trial and indicated there would be no immediate appeal against the bail ruling. The court has mandated an expeditious hearing.
Bodejo was detained by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) for allegedly forming an ethnic militia group, Kungiya Zaman Lafiya. He was arraigned in March on three counts under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, and has denied all charges. His lawyer had sought bail on the grounds of ill health and fundamental rights, but Justice Ekwo dismissed the application.
