Troops Arrest 86 Terrorists, Collaborators, Oil Thieves Nationwide

The Nigerian military has successfully arrested 86 individuals linked to terrorism, collaboration with terrorists, and oil theft across the country, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reported.

The operations, carried out nationwide, also resulted in the rescue of 26 kidnapped victims and the neutralization of several terrorists.

According to the DHQ, the coordinated offensives were conducted across multiple regions, including the North-East, North-West, and South-South. These operations targeted terrorist hideouts, oil theft syndicates, and criminal networks threatening the security of citizens.

In the North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai engaged Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states. The troops apprehended 26 terrorist collaborators and successfully rescued three kidnapped victims. The DHQ described the operation as “a significant blow to insurgents who continue to terrorize the region.”

In the North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma troops confronted bandits across Kaduna, Zamfara, Katsina, Kebbi, and Sokoto states. Several terrorists were neutralized, and 14 kidnapped victims were rescued. The DHQ emphasized that these actions demonstrate the military’s ongoing commitment to securing the region.

In the South-South, Operation Delta Safe foiled an oil theft valued at about N13.4 million, destroyed 16 illegal refining sites, and arrested 19 suspects. Additionally, five kidnapped victims were rescued in the Niger Delta. The military stated that these efforts aim to curb criminal activities that disrupt economic and social stability in the region.

The DHQ affirmed that these operations are part of a continuous strategy to combat terrorism, banditry, and oil theft across Nigeria. “Our troops remain steadfast in protecting citizens, dismantling criminal networks, and ensuring national security,” the statement read. The military urged residents to continue providing intelligence that will help secure communities and eliminate threats.
