Troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have intensified search and rescue missions for abducted schoolchildren across Niger, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

A military source told the News Agency of Nigeria that soldiers neutralised several terrorists and destroyed multiple hideouts within the last 24 hours while maintaining pressure across the North Central and North West corridors.

According to the source, troops of 22 Brigade swiftly responded to the abduction of students from St Mary’s School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State. ISR aircraft were deployed to monitor the movement of the abductors, while ground teams followed the withdrawal routes used by the criminals.

He added that operations have now expanded into the Audu Fari axis in Borgu Local Government Area, where troops continue to sweep surrounding communities for possible traces of the abductors. In Mariga Local Government Area, soldiers at FOB Gulbin Boka ambushed a group of terrorists attempting to regroup near Magaman Daji, causing several casualties and seizing four motorcycles used by the criminals.

Efforts also intensified in Kebbi State, where troops are working to rescue students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School Maga on November 17. A major operation was launched around the Gando and Sunke Forest axis in Kebbi and the Talata Mafara area of Zamfara, targeting routes frequently used by terrorist groups.

During the coordinated operation, the strike force destroyed three terrorist camps and forced the bandits to flee their hideouts. The troops also recovered an international passport belonging to a woman from Bagega, an item believed to have been taken during an earlier attack in the area.

The military source reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army remains fully committed to the ongoing mission, stressing that operations will continue until all abducted students are safely rescued and the networks responsible for the attacks are dismantled across the affected regions.
