Troops Thwart Bandit Attack In Plateau, Neutralise Three Suspects.

In a decisive operation, troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have neutralised three suspected bandits in Teng and Kayarda communities of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area (LGA) in Plateau State, preventing planned attacks on local villages. The operation, which took place on Tuesday morning, also led to the recovery of weapons and ammunition, bolstering security efforts in the region.

Major Samson Zhakom, Media Officer for OPSH, disclosed the details in a statement issued in Jos on Tuesday. He explained that the troops acted on credible intelligence indicating that armed militia were preparing to launch attacks on Teng and Kayarda villages. Swiftly deploying to ambush positions, the troops engaged the suspects, neutralising three while others fled.

“During the operation, our troops made contact with the bandits, neutralising three and recovering four AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines, and 56 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition,” Major Zhakom said.

The successful ambush has disrupted the planned attacks, ensuring the safety of residents in the targeted communities. Major Zhakom added that OPSH has intensified efforts to apprehend the remaining members of the criminal group who escaped.

This operation underscores the Nigerian military’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in Plateau State, with troops continuing to work tirelessly to protect communities from banditry and violence. The recovery of significant weaponry further weakens criminal networks, offering hope for safer days ahead in the region.
