A loaded Mack 40-foot containerised truck earlier on Wednesday overturned and fell on its side on the Ojuelegba Bridge inward Stadium, Lagos, causing serious traffic disruption but no casualty was recorded.
The incident occurred while the truck was descending the bridge, completely blocking the carriageway and denying access to other vehicles. The development led to heavy congestion in the area, prompting immediate intervention by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

Following the accident, all vehicular movement from Fadeyi and Onipan was diverted through the Ojuelegba service lane, where motorists burst out at Barracks to connect Funso Williams Avenue, as traffic officials worked to manage the situation and prevent a total gridlock.
Recovery teams were promptly deployed, and rigorous efforts were made to evacuate the overturned truck off the bridge. After successful clearance operations, the road has now been reopened for vehicular movement, connecting Ojuelegba Bridge en route Stadium.
Traffic flow has since returned to normal, while motorists have been advised to drive cautiously and adhere strictly to traffic regulations, especially when navigating bridges and other high-risk corridors.
The incident once again underscores the need for continuous enforcement of safety measures for articulated vehicles operating on Lagos roads, to prevent similar occurrences in the future
