The United States and Kenya convened for the second U.S.-Kenya Cyber and Digital Dialogue in Nairobi on November 27. This meeting, hosted by the Government of Kenya, marked the fulfillment of a commitment made by both nations during the U.S.-Kenya Bilateral Strategic Dialogue earlier in the year.
Leading the U.S. delegation was Ambassador at Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy, Nathaniel C. Fick, along with representatives from the Departments of State, Defense, and Justice.
The Kenyan delegation, headed by Mr. Thomas Sakah, Secretary Security for the Ministry for Internal Security and National Administration, comprised representatives from key agencies, including the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, National Computer and Cybercrimes Coordination Committee, State Law Office, National Police Service, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Communications Authority of Kenya, Office of the National Security Advisor, Kenya Defence Forces, Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, and Ministry of Information, Communications and Digital Economy.
During the dialogue, officials addressed various topics, encompassing cyber and digital capacity building, the implementation of the Framework for Responsible State Behavior in Cyberspace, collaborative efforts against cybercrime, promotion of secure ICT infrastructure, and the advancement of digital freedom.
Discussions also centered on strategies to realize Kenya’s digital economy objectives, emphasizing investment attraction and job creation through innovation.
